The Cooma Cats and Snowy SuperCats Juniors are back on the training track for season 2011 next Tuesday (11 January) and all players and supporters, new and old, are welcome.
Cooma Cats Club President Dave Paterson said the club was looking forward to building on last year’s on field success which saw the seniors increase the number of games won over previous years, and the juniors (Under 14 SuperCats) make the finals in only their second season.
It was a great year on the field for the club last year and we hope to be able to build on this success this season,” Dave said.
“We are looking forward to seeing players from last year come back, but we are also keen to welcome new faces in all age groups,” he said.
The Cooma Cats are looking to increase the number of teams in fields in the AFL Canberra competition to meet the growing interest in the club and the code on the Monaro and across the Snowy Mountains.
“At the Cooma Cats and Snowy SuperCats, we welcome anyone of any age and any level of football experience to come along to training at the Snowy Oval on Tuesday evenings to get a taste of AFL footy,” Dave said.
“Last year we saw a number of new players in both our senior and junior grades playing their first season of AFL and it was amazing to see how well the progressed.
“And this is what we’re all about at the Cats – giving anybody who wants a go at playing our great game the chance to do so,” Dave said.
The Cooma Cats and Snowy SuperCats (juniors) are now training at Snowy Oval every Tuesday evening from 6pm. Anyone interested can contact David Patterson on 0438089758 or Stuart Wood on 0422496400.
