It is a big Weekend at Weldon kicking off at 0830 and running all day with 5 games.
The women are first up, hoping to go back to back. They are strengthened with some returning players including Te Rina Taite back from injury. They have looked like an improved team each time they run out. Now is the chance to show the home crowd how they have improved. Fearless play and hard run are the order of the day.
Div 4 follow looking to knock off Mac Uni who lead them on the ladder only by percentage. The team has clicked into gear and with a big win over Southern Power last week to celebrate Mr Hickfords milestone they are looking for consistency. As players return above, Coach Fagan is starting get a great group and player rotation is a welcome headache.
The Reserves sit 4th on the ladder and face Wests. The side looks very strong with some fantastic inclusions as players fight to regain spots in Seniors. With some big bodies runniing around and real pace with Panniza, Livori and the like, they may have the strongest team they have fielded for the season. The Coach is back and looking for a bag of goals, while stating selflessly his real aim is fluent play with the ball and tackling pressure.
The Seniors have the biggest in, with Killa returning from Northern Blues. They also play Wests who have rolled our boys on a wet track at Weldon before. While the ladder says it should be a win, no one has told Wests that in the past and they love hard footy on a cold wet day. This Wests team is improved with the addiiton of former Swan Paul Bevan aand look to have the tradiional hard edge. Several players are backing up from Rep duty, where they were outstanding, and the work on the track looks good.
The 19s round off the day with a very tough opponent in Pennant Hills. Our team has enough skill to win, it looks more like a matter of getting the combinations working to secure the four points. With the support of the crowd and the home crowd they can do this and sing the song loud and proud. Stay and watch them, they are a very talented group and the future of the Club.
