15 Year Service Awarded
Carl is a life member of the Greystanes Devils, but he is much more than that. Carl is an integral part of our Club's Family Friendly Culture. Carl is awarded his 15 years service this year and throughout those years Carl has ensured through quiet example and calm direction that the Devils always put Children and Families before anything else. He is extremely well respected by players throughout all ages and divisions. He is the "go to man" for any Devils history and is there for all the hard decisions, supporting the current committee in making the right choices to maintain the Devils focus on being a family friendly club. In the past he has served as president and treasurer, but despite now bearing no title he still comes to every committee meeting.
We are extremely fortunate to have his expert first aid Level 2 Accredited Sports Trainer experience at every home game. His calm presence and skill in the face of serious injuries such as concussions, dislocations and breaks has seen many visiting clubs send thank you letters praising his care. He spends his Saturdays on the side line as first Aid officer despite not having any Children still playing. Sundays he is Strapper for the premiership winning C grade. This year he has also taken to the field himself as our most senior player of our Greystanes Devils Over 35's Masters Rugby League team.
Carl has contributed so much to the culture and spirit of the Devils over the last 15 years and continues to do so week in week out. As his catch phrase goes "It's Great at Greystanes" because of volunteers like him.

Our dedicated Secretary, Tish has taken home 2 of highest achievable awards and recognition for 2016. We are very lucky to have her as our Secretary and Proud of her efforts and recognition in her first year as Secretary.
Tish was asked to take on the Secretary role at Greystanes when our former Secretary stood down at the start of the season due to personal reasons. Tish took on the role, on top of all her other roles and has done her family, friends, club and district proud.
Tish was selected by Parramatta District Junior Rugby League to take home the "Volunteer of the year for Parramatta district" at the NSW JRL Awards night.
This award has not been received by any other person from Greystanes in the past and it is a great pleasure that Tish was able to represent our club and our district in bringing it home. Such a great achievement and this highlights Tish's dedication, passion and high standards that she has.
Tish also received the "Secretary of the year" award from Parramatta Junior Rugby League. This award is said to be a hard one to receive as the competition is so good.
We are proud that Tish has brought it home. Tish is able to share her experience as Secretary and of winning this award with former Secretary and now Life Member Julie Jose who honoured us with Secretary of the year and Club of the year in 2012.
Congratulations to Tish for her outstanding efforts.
2016 Presentation Day

C Grade Presentation Night
Only C grade players and persons over 18 years permitted to purchase tickets. The event will take place at a licenced Pub and will not permit entry to the function area if you are under 18 years of age.

We are a Good Sports Level 3 accredited club.
Sporting clubs such as ours play a significant role in the community and have a responsibility to our members and their families. We have chosen to join over 6,500 clubs across Australia taking part in the Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports program. Through Good Sports we are committed to managing alcohol responsibly, ensuring smoke free areas and providing healthier food options, which we believe will help us to provide a healthy, safe and family friendly environment.
Through Good Sports we aim to:
- Eliminate risky drinking in the club through the promotion of a responsible approach to the sale and consumption of alcohol in the club
- Encourage healthy food choices before, during and after sport
- Protect juniors and other young people from the misuse of alcohol in and around the club
- Provide a responsible smoke-free club environment, through designated smoking areas
- Ensuring healthy meal, snack or drinks options available and promoted
- Limiting the supply and promotion of less healthy food options
At Level 3, we are committed to:
- Not selling or consuming alcohol without an appropriate liquor license
- Training our bar staff in Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Ensuring smoke free areas are available
- Organising safe and responsible social events
- Thinking ahead and ensuring players and members get home safely after functions
- Formalising and implementing our club’s alcohol management and food supply policy
- Safe food handling practices
- Providing and promoting a range of healthy food choices
- Fundraisers and sponsorship that don’t include unhealthy food promotion

Brain Cancer Statistics
- Brain cancer kills more children than any other disease,
- Brain cancer kills more adults under 40 in Australia than any other cancer,
- Yet it receives less than 5% of Government cancer funding
- Every year about 1400 malignant brain tumours are diagnosed in Australia.
- The most common type of tumour is Glioblastoma Multiforme or GBM.
- About 80 people are diagnosed with other malignant central nervous system (CNS) tumours, including malignant spinal tumours.
- An estimated 2000 people – including children – are diagnosed with a benign tumour each year.
- About 100 children are diagnosed with malignant brain tumours each year – this is the second most common cancer in children.
- About 20 children are diagnosed with a spinal cord tumour.

Fundraising for Presentation day has started for 2016.
Money raised will help fund our end of season Presentation Day.
Its not to late to grab a box or 2 and help the devils.
Have you sold your box yet? Need another one? Let your team manager know that you would like another box to sell and when you return your money they can provide you with that next box.

Take the NSWRL Junior League Respect Pledge
Across the months of April and May, Junior League participants - including players, coaches, trainers, managers, volunteers, match and club officials - are This outlines the fundamentals of our great game as participants promise to act in a manner that displays the core values of excellence, inclusiveness, courage, teamwork and respect.
There are prizes to be won for the clubs and districts with the most online pledges - including a double pass to State Of Origin I on June 1 at ANZ Stadium! Clubs have the chance to win a $1000, $500 or $250 Steeden voucher to be used towards new gear
Good Sports Program Accreditation
This program is a national initiative of the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) to develop safer and healthier communities. It focuses on the responsible safe consumption of Alcohol and providing a smoke free environment.
The Devils are proud to find that we were already incompliance with the majority of the requirements for this accreditation.
This program supports The Devil’s philosophy of a family focused, community minded club.
According to the Program, being accredited ‘confirms that the club promotes a responsible attitude towards alcohol and that it provides a safe environment for players, members, families and supporters.’
