Gundagai Tigers have recently signed former National Rugby League player Jason Ferris as the club's captain/coach for the next two years.

Ferris has had considerable success as a captain/coach since the end of his NRL career in 2003 - his most recent being this year when he captain/coached Glen Innes to the premiership in the Group 19 competition.  In 2004, Ferris captain/coached Collegians to the Wollongong premiership, and then the following year he captained Leigh in the English Super League.  Ferris captain/coached West Wollongong 2006/07.

Tigers president, Jamie Turnbull, says that Ferris is Gundagai's highest profile captain/coach since the club appointed former St George grand finalist, Steve Funnell, in the early 1990's.  Ferris brings strong attributes to the Tigers, including professionalism, new ideas and change.  A halfback or five-eighth, Ferris is likely to play at halfback as this year's first-choice halfback, Matt Lott, has moved to Sydney for employment.

The Tigers are set to have a wealth of experience next year with 32 year old Ferris and 30 year old prop Peter Magnone, a long-serving Gundagai player who was this years captain/coach of the club.
