Become a Referee
There are many reasons why people take up refereeing Rugby League.
- Being able to stay involved in Rugby League in a non-contact role
- Meeting new friends
- Aspiring to referee in the NRL
- Earn some pocket money
- Better understand the rules of Rugby League
No matter what you reason or motivation - if your interested in becoming a Rugby League Referee, contact our Executive Officer, Tony Beger.
Even if you dont live anywhere near Balmain, we can put you in touch with your local Referees Association.
When I start what will I do?
Generally when you start you wil start with the Under 6s - Under 8s then as you gain further experience and confidence you will be given the chance to be involved in mod league (U/9s-U/12s) and then eventually you'll be ready for the senior grades (Under 13's and older). Who knows, you may just be the next Mat Cecchin and referee in the NRL
How old do you have to be?
The minimum age is 14 years of age for your full Level 1 Accreditation.
But if your 13 and your interested in refereeing, contact us anyway as there is now an oppertunity for 13 year old Girls and Boys to get a preliminary Level 1 Accredititation and referee non-competitive games in Balmain. Non Competitive games are the Under 6's to Under 8's age groups.
