Under 16's Boys FC
The Under 16's competed in the Boys FC competition in Epsom this weeked.
The Kyneton lads were pooled with Melbourne Phoenix, Knox City and Tyers Lightning.
First up on Saturday the boys played Melbourne Phoenix and started positively with Shaun opening the scoring before Melbourne equalized. Then Max put the boys back in front to lead 2-1 at half-time.
The second half saw Melbourne dominate to score three more and Kyneton were on the wrong end of a 2-4 score-line.
After an extremely long break, Kyneton played their second game for the day when they came up against Knox City, who were too strong for the Kyneton boys and scored three goals in the first half. The heat took toll on the Kyneton lads and Knox managed another five in the second half to take the game without Kyneton scoring 0-8.
Sunday saw the boys come up against Tyers Lightning. The Kyneton boys worked extremely hard with plenty of chances coming their way. Eventually Jesse broke through the dead lock and took the boys into a 1-0 lead at half-time.
The second half saw the boys full of confidence and added two more goals through Luke and another to Jesse to be victorious at the end of the game 3-0.
Kyneton then took on Williamson for a third place play-off.
Kyneton started strong, but conceeded a goal to be down 0-1 at half-time.
With no subs, the boys started running out of legs and saw Williamstown score twice more to take the game 0-3.
The young lads will gain plenty from this weekend and realise with hard work and more importantly team effort and talk, they will improve and be ready for the league season which commences after easter.
