MiniRoos Registrations in 2018 (Under 6s to 9s)

Step by step guide

 

 

 

Step 1:  Understand the key dates for 2018

The key dates for 2017 are as follows:

  • Registrations open on Wednesday, 23 January 2018
  • The MiniRoos Information Day will be held on Sunday 8 April 2018 at Waramanga Fields. Times tba closer to the date.
  • Registrations for MiniRoos will close on Sunday, 25th March 2018
  • The MiniRoos Coaches and Managers Meeting will be held on Monday 9th April 2018  , STROMLO HIGH SCHOOL HALL@ 0730pm. 
  • Gear Handout from Chapman Lockup 10,11,12 April 2018  7pm-9pm
  • The season will commence on Saturday, 5 May 2018
  • Grassroots Coaching Session 25th March and 20th May 2018. Check facebook and News web page for more details closer to the date or contact Richard Jalland to book in . You can also check Capital Football Website  and sign up for a Grassroots course held at various clubs if WMFC dates don't suit.

 

Step 2:  Decide the appropriate age group to register

WMFC runs mixed and girls competitions in the under 6s to 9s age groups:

  • Mixed competitions for children aged 6 to 9
  • Girls’ competitions for girls aged 8 and 9. 

Children should generally be registered in the age group they are turning in 2017.  That is:

Children who are 5 years of age, and attending primary school, may register with the under 6s age group.  

 

Step 3:  Register online with the My Football Website 

You can register online at the My Football Club website: www.playfootball.com.au

Click here a guide to assist you register with WMFC’s MiniRoos through the Playfootball website (the WMFC My Football Club Registration Guide). REMEMBER TO GO TO www.playfootball, click on "register now" , choose one of the three options that is applicable to your child, it then goes through to the myfootballclub registration system.

The cost for registering a player in the under 6s to 9s age groups in 2018 is as follows:

If you register after 25 March 2018, your registration will only be accepted if there is a place on a team.

If you are eligible for a family discount, you must register players individually online and submit your application for a family discount through the Family discount application form to treasurer@wmfc.org.au. 

You will be reimbursed the difference between what you have paid online through My Football Club, and your relevant package after you submit the form

 

Step 4:  Submit your preferences for team allocations 

MiniRoos players are generally placed into teams using three criteria:

  • Retaining the same teams from previous years
  • Playing with friends
  • Playing with children from the same school

While every effort is made to fulfill special requests regarding team placement, this is not always possible. 

If you would to play with a group of children, you should submit your team preferences in the ‘Additional Questions’ part of the My Football Club registration process (see the WMFC My Football Club Registration Guide). If you intend coaching or managing , recruit your team and get them to register stating in the preferences that they wish to be in the team coached by "xxx" or mangaged by " yyy" or playing with child " vvv from St Judes" etc. The more detail the better it helps place your child in the correct team

In each team, there is an absolute maximum of 6 players in under 6s and 7s, and Maximum 9 players in under 8s and 9s.Increased numbers form these lessen game time for all players and makes managing equal game time for all difficult. 

 

 

Step 5: Attend the MiniRoos Organisation Day

The MiniRoos Organisation Day is your opportunity to speak to WMFC volunteers and ask questions about the coming season. 

The MiniRoos Organisation Day will be held on SUNDAY 8 April , from 1.00 pm, at the Waramanga Playing Fields. 

There will be allotted times for dealing with administrative matter for the various age groups, namely:

  • Under 6s: 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm
  • Under 7s: 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm
  • Under 8s and 9s: 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm

On the day, children can participate in football-based activities (football boots and shin pads will be required for these activities). 

Club merchandise will also be available for purchase.  

 

Step 6:  Get ready for kick off!

Training arrangements

WMFC provides coaches will balls, cones, bibs and pop-up goals for training and playing. 

Coaches and managers meeting will be @ raiders Weston Club on Monday 9th April 2018 from 0730 pm for an hour. 

Equipment collection prior to the start of the season will be from the Chapman Lockup 10,11,12th April from 7-9pm. make sure a represtative from Each team attends the Coaches and managers meeting.  

It is up to individual teams whether they would like to train during the season.  Many teams find it convenient to make arrangements to train on school grounds after school. 

WMFC will facilitate access to grounds for training, if necessary.  If you require this, your coach or manager should consult with Lisa Garner to book field time. School based teams can train at their schools if thats more convenient but please consult and gain approval from your School Principal first.

All MiniRoos games are held on Saturdays at the Waramanga Playing Fields.  The first game of the season will be held on Saturday, 5th May. 

Draws will be available on the MiniRoos Draws page closer to the start of the season.
