Juniors Registrations in 2018 (Under 10s to 18s)

Step by step guide

 

 

 

Step 1:  Understand the key dates for 2018

The key dates for 2018 are as follows:

  • Registrations open on Wednesday, 23rd January 2018
  • Registrations close on Sunday, 25th March 2018 , BUT players attending grading MUST BE REGISTERED.
  • The Juniors Coaches and Managers Meeting will be held on 9th April @ Stromlo High School Hall, 0815-0845pm. 
  • Gear pickup from the Chapman Lockup 10,11,12th April 7-9 pm but teams wishing to train earlier are encouraged to contact Richard Jalland and collect their kit aand arrange a time.
  • The season will commence on Saturday, 5th May 2018

 

Step 2:  Decide the appropriate age group to register

WMFC runs mixed and girls competitions in the under 9's to 18's age groups:

  • Mixed competitions for players aged 10 to 18
  • Girls’ competitions for players aged 10 to 18

Depending on numbers, there may not be under 15s . Players in these ages should register in the under 16s and 18s packages. 

Children should generally be registered in the age group they are turning in 2017.  That is:

Step 3:  Register online with the My Football Website 

You can register online at the www.playfootball.com.au  website: www.playfootball.com.au 

There is a guide to assist you register with WMFC’s Juniors through the Playfootball website go to www.playfootball.com.au which is the new face of the registration process, click on " register now" , choose one of the three options and click it, this takes you through to the myfootballclub.com.au registration site (the WMFC My Football Club Registration Guide 2016).

The cost for registering a player in the under 10s to 18s age groups in 2018 is as follows:

If you register after 25 March, your registration will only be accepted if there is a place on a team, but we ask all players wishing to try for a Div1 or Div2 team to be registered when they attend grading sessions.

If you are eligible for a family discount, you must register players individually online and submit your application for a family discount through the Family discount application form.  You should send the completed form to treasurer@wmfc.org.au.

You will be reimbursed the difference between what you have paid online through My Football Club, and your relevant package after you submit the form.

 

Step 4:  Attend preseason training 

Pre-season Girls Development Training will start from Tuesday the 6th of February 2018. We will run the program twice per week until grading on both the Tuesday and Thursday evenings on Field 2 in front of the Canteen.

 

  • For girls aged U8 and U9 we will run it from 6pm till 7pm.
  • For girls aged U10 and U18 we will run it from 6pm till 7:30pm.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to improve your skills and touch as well as an insight into the types of things the coaches will be looking for at grading. 

 

 Girls U8 and U9 will not be graded but the sessions will cover the types of drills we use for grading in the following years.

Girls aged U10 to U18 will have the opportunity to be graded and tentative trial dates have been set for Tuesday 13th March, Thursday the 15th and Saturday the 17th of March. As with every year, grading is encouraged in order to ensure the girls are playing at the right level for their confidence but is not compulsory. Depending on the number of teams per age group it may be required for both Division 1 and/or Division 2 teams. 

 

Unfortunately we can't offer pre season training for the Boys/Open age categories due to lack of volunteers. 

 

 

 

Step 5:  Attend grading sessions 

Grading dates and times for OPEN ( mixed teams only) Girls are welcome to trial in the open category if they do not wish to play in a girls only competition.Players wishing to play in friendship teams do not need to grade and will automatically be placed in Div3 teams.

For players trialling for a position in a Div1 or Div2 team, grading will be held over four one-hour sessions 11,12,18,19 th February 2018 at the Waramanga Playing Fields.

On Sunday 11 and Sunday 18th FEB 2018, 

  • Under 10 and 11's  at 5:00-6:00pm
  • Under 12s and 13's at 6:00-7:00pm
  • Under 14s-18s        at 7:00-8:00pm

On Monday 12 Monday 19th february 2018, the session times are:

    • Under 10 and 11's  at 5:00-6:00pm
    • Under 12s and 13's at 6:00-7:00pm
    • Under 14s-18s        at 7:00-8:00pm

Players must attend at least two grading sessions, although they are encouraged to attend all sessions. 

Game training phase and up (under 14s to 18s)

For players in the under 14s to 18s age groups, attending the grading sessions 11,12,18,19th February is recomended so WMFC can guage how many players we have and what age groups we can enter based on the registered numbers. 

 

Girls Only Competition Grading U10-U18 

 

Girls aged U10 to U18 wishing to play in the Girlss only competition will have the opportunity to be graded and  trial dates have been set for Tuesday 13th March, Thursday the 15th and Saturday the 17th of March. Step 6: Get ready for kick off!

The first game of the season will be held on Saturday, 5 May 2018

Competitions for ages under 10s and up are home and away, with home games played at the Waramanga Playing Fields. 

Draws will be available on the Capital Football page of the Fox Sports Pulse website closer to the start of the season. The big change for this year is that U16 and U18 have finals. This means the U16/U18 season finishes one week later with the last match being 15th september. All other age groups finish 8th Sept 2018.
