The Toronto Dingos came into Week 3 of the 2012 AFLO Season feeling pretty confident after a good win against the Blues in the previous round. The Red and Black Div 1 were set to face the visiting Ottawa Swans, who came to town with just 17 players, which the Dingos coaching staff decided to match.
The first quarter saw the Dingos strike first blood with a goal to ruckman Tom Bell on the run - Tom would finish the game with 4 goals in a best on ground performance. The goals continued to come through all four quarters, but inaccurate kicking in front of the big sticks in the first half gave the Swans some confidence. Thankfully the veteran Dingos backline held strong all day, continually repelling any attack the Swans could muster.
The backline was so good in fact, the Swans could only score 2 behinds for the entire game. Final score 11.13.79 to 0.2.2. Next up for the Div 1 squad is 2011's runner-up, the High Park Demons in a rare Sunday night game.
The Dingos Div 2 were solid, but unfortunately fell to a veteran Hawks lineup despite a fairly even share of the footy. Best on ground went to the veteran Paul Tinkler, with rookie Gary Conlon a close second. Final score was 10.3-63 to 4.4-28.
The Women's Team also faced the traveling Swans team, but without a full squad were forced to forfeit the official match. The ladies did play a scratchy however with a couple of adopted players managed to run out comfortable winners. Meghan Peets continues her strong play and looks to be a lock for women's MVP this year.
