The Mitcham Football Club are saddened to report the passing of Steve (Lumpy) Lundberg on Saturday 4th September. Steve passed away late Saturday night.
Steve was described as a "tough and uncompromising backman" as a player during the 1960's and 1970's. Steve was part of the clubs premiership in 1970. He was also one of our finest clubmen, serving on the clubs committee and later becoming President of the club during 1987 & 1988. In 1982 Steve was awarded the highest privilege at the club, life membership.
Steve was a loyal and passionate man who cared very much for his beloved Tigers. He will be remembered fondly for his significant contribution to our great club. Right up untill his passing he regularly offered to help out in any way he could. Lumpy's memories will live on throughout the club for many many years to come.
On behalf of the Board, Players, Staff and Members, along with the Past Players & Officials Association, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Steve's wife Lorraine, son Shane and daughter Melissa and their families. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
The funeral service for Steve will be held on Friday 10th September at Heritage & Heritage Funerals (733 Boronia Rd, Wantirna) at 11.00am. A wake will be held at the Mitcham Football Club after the service to celebrate Steve's life. All are welcome to attend.
Rest In Peace Lumpy, you will be sadly missed by us all at the Tigers Den.
Matt McCubbin
(President, Mitcham Football Club)
