05.08.17 v DENI ROVERS
Well what a great weekend we had last week. Started with a very successful day at the football/netball with only one loss between them. It certainly is great to see the club as a whole experiencing such success, we should all be looking foward to the coming weeks. A big congrats to everyone that was involved in the successful TFNC Mock Wedding night. It was great to see such a crowd attend this function organised by Sarah Quick and her trusty troupe, we certainly have some amazing actors/actresses amongst our club. For those that couldn't be bothered to attend another one of our functions, you definitely missed out on a ripper of a night. Anyone that still has major raffle tickets, they are required back this week, for those of you that still have not bought a ticket to our end of season Funday Sunday, drop by the office and ask Deb where you can get a ticket. Don't miss out on what is always a great way to finish off the home and away season. You must have a ticket to attend the Major Raffle Draw/Family Fun Day.
Milestones - Congratulations to Tommy Hatty on making his senior debut last weekend against Yarroweyah. He had a ripper of a game and made the most of his opportunities when they came his way. Well done Tommy, well rewarded for your season thus far. We have another three milestones this week against Deni - Harvey White - 50th U14's game, Jesse Barker - 50th U17's game and Jacob Hore - 100th Senior game, well done to all three of you, you have all had great seasons this year and we look forward to watching your games in the future.
Under 14's -Another good effort from the Junior Bloods last Saturday with some terrific team work displayed. The ability of the older boys to bring the younger boys into the game was exceptional and the younger ones all stepped up and held their own. We need to keep on working hard to be one solid unit.
Under 17's -Great game by all the boys. The boys are playing some awesome football, working well as a team. Reilly Rennick and Mitchell Reilly were great targets in front of goal and the defence was fantastic all game. Let's train hard and keep working towards finals.
Reserves -The boys were determined to make the game special for Corey Herezo and Reece Hardwidge who were playing milestone games, and they delivered. After kicking with the strong breeze in the first quarter and frittering away some opportunities we held a slim 21 point lead. The players really dug deep and by half time the game was in our keeping with a 40 point lead. Playing in his 100th reserves game for the club Reece Hardwidge was outstanding and has had a stellar season thus far. The undermanned opposition tried hard but with our boys not letting up we had a good solid win. This was also a great team effort as everyone played their role, well done boys.
Seniors -Well after a great win last week we headed to face an undermanned Yarroweyah determined to keep our form moving. Four U/17 players got the opportunity to pull on the boots for the big one and all performed well when they got their chance. Young Mitchell Reilly booted four first quarter goals which was an outstanding effort. The Bloods kicking with a strong breeze coming straight from Antarctica had the game over with an 11 goal to nil first quarter. The boys led by nearly 80 points at the last change kicking against the wind really pressed hard with an impressive 9 goal effort into that breeze. To the Hoppers credit they held us to 5 goals for two quarters and they battled manfully but in the end Tocumwal had too many answers. A real team effort this week with the goal kickers finishing off the work from the boys further up the field.
