27.05.17 v YARROWEYAH
Today we welcome our many generous sponsors who play a critical role in our clubs' sustainability and ensuring that we provide a quality sporting environment for our football and netball teams. Thanks for your ongoing support and we hope you have an enjoyable afternoon at the club.
Tonight we have our Players Auction. The groups have been on Facebook now for a week, plenty of time to have a good look at who you might consider bidding on. Should be a great night, something new to try. Who is going to be the most sought after group???
Under 14's - The Junior Bloods returned to some cracking footy last Saturday, playing to instruction and maintaining an open game of footy. Tom, Bailey and Zander dominated the stoppages whilst key forwards, Harvey and Baylee provided great targets. Raymond was his "hard at it" usual self. We need to keep putting pressure on ourselves to continue improving each week.
Congratulations to Zander Griffin being named as best player for the North West U14's Interleague Team. Well done Zander.
Under 17's - Drew, Oliver & Mitch C were solid in defence. Jesse C had a great game and was named best player for us. James tried hard for most of the game. Our younger ones, Tom and Zander had solid games as well.
As a group we have to work hard and for longer and the win will come.
Reserves - A very undermanned reserves team took the field against a good Blighty outfit. The Redeyes were dominant from the start against a valiant seconds team who tried hard but were outclassed. We never gave up and had a good last quarter that showed we have some handy players. Best players were veterans Matt Wooden, Glyn Matters, Corey Herezo with Luke Fuller and Michael Roberts also having good games.
Seniors - It was always going to tough facing the undefeated Blighty on their home ground with seven players out from the previous game against Picola. Once again injury and the unavailability of players has cost Tocumwal in a big way. Jed Brain led the attack with 6 majors, he was extremely hard to match up on, with his running and ball use well above Picola League standards.
With a 50 point lead at half time the Bloods needed to gain some respect back in the second half, but the momentum was well and truly with Blighty all day. Hall, Singleton and Tyndall also got on top of the depleted Bloods line up. Logie and Atkinson battled hard all day with Maxwell and McDonald dangerous at times up forward. It was definitely a wakeup call for Tocumwal, with Blighty showing they are right up there with Picola.
QUOTE - "Failure is never quite as frightening as regret."
Congratulations to Melissa Herezo who plays her 100th club game today in the red and white. Great achievement Mel, plenty more to come yet.
