06.05.17 v PICOLA UNITED
Welcome to our guests - players & officials from the 1965-66 Grand Final teams and the 1967 Premiership Team. We hope you have a great day catchiing up and reminiscing about those three great years that you were involved in. At the moment we have got 17 of the 18 living players returning for today's reunion. Jeff Beasley and Noel Hussey will be compering the event. Registration and meet & greet until 12pm, then a sit down finger food luncheon followed by some player interviews. Should be a great day.
MEMBERSHIPS - All players memberships are now due, if you haven't paid for your membership, today is the day. Deb will be in the office and can take payment and issue you with a membership card. Remember membership covers lots of things - NO MEMBERSHIP - NO INSURANCE.
Under 14's - Once again, after a bit of a slow start, the U14 boys switched on and played some terrific team footy.
Our on-ballers Bailey, Tommy, Zander and Harvey were prominent. Baylee and Hayden gave us plenty of options up forward, with Connor and Blair rebounding anything that came their way.
Under 17's - The boys got off to a slow start but finished the game well. Mitch Condon and Drew had good games in defence. James and Connor tried hard all game. Thanks to the U14's who step up week in and week out.
Reserves - The Magoos needing a better performance than the last two weeks put in the best team orientated effort seen in the last two years. Led ably by skipper Paul Quick and a great running effort by Luke Hayes-Beetson, we were able to notch up a 98 point victory against a gallant Jerilderie. Rhys Morham and Tom Whytcross were dominant but a really even contribution from all players was responsible for the outcome.
Seniors - Today will see David Farrell play his 250th senior game in the red and white. This is a great achievement by David, not only has he played all these games he has been a leader on and off the ground. David has been a committee member for quite some years now. He has played 315 games for the Bloods. His teammates seem to walk tall when he is on the ground, he is one of our toughest players in the modern era and always has a red hot crack, even when taking out one of his own when going for the ball - nothing gets in his way!! Congratulations David.
Congratulations also to one our our recruits Dylan "Dizza" Flanagan who plays his 50th seniors match today. Well done Dizza!!
Needing to follow up on a strong performance last week the seniors were slow out of the blocks with Jerilderie showing plenty of determination and effort early in the game. A 10 goal to 3 second term opened up a 31 point lead for the Bloods. Led by Jacob Hore, Chris Patten, Dane Maxwell and Lachie McDonald, the Bloods booted 12 goals to 2 in the second half to run out 98 point winners. Credit to Jerilderie who tried hard all day but we had such an even performance from all players we eventually ran out convincing winners.
Congratulations to Reilly Rennick on playing his 1st senior match for the club.
