A Grade Werribee Centrals 77 vs. Corio 24
Centrals A grade expected a competitive game today against Corio, with only 8 on the board they new they needed to take control of the game early and make everything count. Working well through set structures with players combining well in all areas of the court Centrals A grade were able to play 4 consistent quarters.Ellie Tubbs stepped up from B grade shooting 47 goals and combining well with Mickayla Ward, who along with Emma Maycock showed a lot of leadership and smarts on the court. Maria Masei was dominant in defense creating many turnovers taking many intercepts. Overall Centrals were disciplined controlling the game all day.
Best: Maria Masei, Amanda Wilson, Mickayla Ward. Goals: Ellie Tubbs 47, Mickayla Ward 30
B Grade Werribee Centrals 52 vs. Corio 8
Great pressure from the defensive combinations today created many forced turn overs, all players backing one another up to come away with the ball. Mid court worked on their centre passes today and with the movement between both Renee DiGioacchino and Rily Dorgan in the circle proved effective. Alyce Daniels was instrumental in her link as centre to help the defenders bring the ball seamlessly down the court to attack. Attacking pressure also proved strong when Corio when were bringing the ball down, again resulting in turnovers in Centrals favor. Centrals B Grade are feeling strong, with all players stepping up and putting in for their team mates coming up to finals.
Best: Natalie Ramsdale, Paras Mackenzie, Rily Dorgan
Goals: Renee Di Gioacchino 30, Rily Dorgan 22
C Grade Werribee Centrals 30 vs. Corio 30
Centrals have a tough match today. Centrals started slow but started to work into the game. Some different combinations today but all combinations worked well. Some good passages of play but too many missed opportunities. In the end it was Janelle’s Braggs deflection on goalers penalty shot that prevented a loss.
Best: Janelle Bragg, Kimberley Genge, Kyrstie Smith.
Goals: Kimberley Genge 14, Clarissa Mellili 9, Amanda Nielson 7.
D Grade Werribee Centrals 21 vs. Corio 17
D Grade took a little time today to find what was going to work against a competitive Corio side today. In wet and slippery conditions all players worked hard on the specific goals that were given to them. Defensively Natasha Piccolo took some strong rebounds while Megan Cunningham and Tenille Murrel were able to provide the physicality that the defensive end was missing in the first half. Diandra Sellers worked tirelessly in WD using her fitness and strength for 4 strong quarters. Sandy Andrews, Emily Ashley and Tylah Hickey were all able to create space and brought the ball down with much more ease compared to past weeks. Amber Smith was brilliant in GA moving well the whole game against a physical defense. Holly Ellul proved as the game went on how well she is able to move. A great come back by all TEAM members on and off the court, supporting and backing each other up.
Best: Amber Smith, Megan Cunningham, Tenille Murrel
Goals: Amber Smith 12, Holly Ellul 9
Under 17’s Werribee Centrals 42 vs. Corio 6
An easier game for 17s today compared to last week but Centrals still lacked intensity in the 1st quarter. Forced balls were continuing to happen all over the court. With some feedback on the side line Centrals adjusted within each quarter improving their game. A good strong finish but Centrals will need to keep focused and increase the intensity with each game leading into finals.
Best: Paras Mackenzie, Tayla Mellili, Megan Noonan
Goals: Clare Atherton 25, Holly Ellul 17, Amber Smith 7
Under 15’s Werribee Centrals 19 vs. Corio 31
Leading into todays game Centrals were prepared for a tough match. Centrals started strong, with the game going goal for goal. Unfortunately from a few mistakes from Centrals Corio took the lead and increased it within each quarter. Centrals did work the ball well around the goal circle today and defensive pressure was also fantastic all over the court. Centrals will need to improve their body on body pressure and passing also coming into finals.
Best: Emily Ashley, Kayla, Jade Terris
Goals: Emily Ashley 10,Nishali 7, Keilera 2
This week Centrals are back at Galvin Parks Netball Courts up against Geelong West in what will be more good netball games to see.
