Werribee Centrals netballers played second side Bell Post Hill and wanted to get redemption for their first round loss to this club.
A Grade
Centrals 46 v. Bell Post Hill 29
All A grades combinations worked well today. Defence Amanda Wilson and Maria Masei worked tirelessly in the ring to get many rebounds and intercepts. Attackers created a lot of space down the court and some lovely feeds into the goalers along with defensive pressure. Mickayla Ward had her work cut out for her along with our other goalers, Jenni Gardner & Rebecca Lally, but they definitely did not show it, scoring off many turnovers and off our own centre passes.
Very fast and pressured game from Bell Post but Centrals were too good in the end and came away with a 46-29 goal win.
Best-Amanda Wilson, Dani Stewart, Mickayla Ward
B Grade
Centrals 43 v. Bell Post Hill 22
All players played really well together today. Paras McKenzie stepped up to help from U17s and played a lovely GK alongside Emma Richards GD.
Emma worked tirelessly again backed up by Anna Pattison, getting many turnovers. Alyce Daniels & Natalie Ramsdale played a control game in C & WA, with some good defensive pressure, good drives down the court and good feeds into the goalers. Ellie Tubbs was once again a great asset in the goal ring, with the great back up from our other goalers, Rily Dorgan & Renee Di Gioacchino.
Great win by Centrals.
Best- Emma Richards, Anna Pattison, Natalie Ramsdale
C Grade
Centrals 38 v. Bell Post Hill 26
Coming away from last week?s match against Belmont Lions, Centrals were a little deflated. At training they had worked on what was needed to do against a tough opponent, Bell Post. Centrals started well and took a little time to get into the game, but started
to settle and move the ball comfortably down the court. Midcourters Michelle Hunter, Mel Cuthbert & Kyrstie Smith were patient and accurate with most of their passes into our
hard working goalers Kim Genge and Clarissa Mellili. Clarissa and Kim did well to score 38 goals between them.
A big welcome back to Hailey Sildatke who played a beautiful defence alongside Janelle Bragg. Some lovely intercepts from Hailey today along with controlled flow down the court, which allowed our attackers the chance to stay back and work on getting it into the ring. Stacey played well in WD and helped with many turnovers.
Great win girls and look forward to next weeks game against East Geelong.
Best- Hailey Sildatke, Michelle Hunter, Clarissa Mellili
D Grade
Centrals 31 v. Bell Post Hill 25
All of D grade made a strong team effort today to come off with a win over Bell Post Hill. With two of our goaling options missing today, Megan Noonan and Sandy Andrews both stepped out of their comfort zones to play in the GA position.
Our defensive end worked tirlessley, working on specific things that have let them down in the past. It was great to see everyones intensity lift in the last half, with better talk and hustle for the ball, D Grade were again playing finals netball.
Best: Diandra Sellars, Meg Noonan, Sarah Clarke
U17s
Centrals 57 v. Bell Post Hill 3
All players played well today having another great win to add to the board. With a few players away Emily Ashley and Jade Terris stepped up from U15s
and fitted in quite well. Centrals defender Paras Mackenzie took some great intercepts contributing to Centrals large goal score.
Best: Paras Mckenzie, Janelle Bragg, Emily Ashley
U 15s
Centrals 66 v. Bell Post Hill 0
What a great game for under 15s winning by 66 goals. Intensity and voices were lacking but with great movement and defensive pressure Centrals had
a fantastic win. Vanessa Grillo had some great intercepts improving each week. Bethany Doyle was another standout doing some smart and accurate passes to the goalers.
Best-Vanessa Grillo, Jade Terris , Zoe Piccolo
This week Centrals are back to East Geelong in what should be another week of very high class netball.
