The 2012 season has started, round 2 is at home to Forrest,
Welcome to the Birregurra Football and Netball Club's website. We are known as the Saints, and have a red white and black uniform. We have a proud history at the BFNC celebrating 125 years in 2008. Our home games are played at the Birregurra Recreation Reserve in the Colac and District Football and Netball League.
In 2010 we were premiers in the under 14.5s which is only the second junior football premiership for the club, the other being the under 17s in 1995. Last year also saw the seniors lossing the Grand Final by 2 points and therefore runners up for the second year in a row, with the reserves getting knocked out in the prelim final after also being runners up in 2009.
In 2011 we have gone two better and secured a premiership win in the seniors under the guidance of new senior coach and ex geelong player Paul Lynch, in the under 17s under the guidance of Barney Maxwell and a back to back premiership for the under 14.5s under Damian Melican's guidance. Both Junior teams were undefeated for the season and deserved the accolade with their premiership wins.
Just as importantly the netball girls worked very hard over the season and competed in the finals for season 2012 under coach Jenny Keast. Abbey Gannon (Spokes) was named in the CDFNLNA team of the year with Jenny Keast being awarded the honour of Coach of the Team of the Year. This puts us in a great position for 2012 with our senior team having tasted finals and a great many of our junior players showing potential.
The BFNC have 88 footballers and 60 netballers playing on any weekend and whether you are a long time supporter, new supporter, or interested in becoming involved with the Saints, your support is greatly appreciated by all players, commitee and members of the Birregurra Football and Netball Club, so get along to training and or games at this exciting time for the club and cheer on the boys and girls as they do the Birregurra district proud in the upcoming season in 2012.
