Note from the Club President

2017 will be another year of change, with continued smaller teams at the U8 and U10 levels, however if 2016 is anything to go by 2017 will be a successful year for all our players. 

The Mini information night is Friday 24th February, 6-8pm. If you can’t attend the registration night the forms will be available here shortly. 

Given the changes to the team sizes the Minis Committee will need more time than previous years to allocate players to teams. Therefore it is important that all registrations are completed online and payments are made by April 2017.

Training is on Friday Nights

    • Under 8's 5:30pm - 6:30pm 
    • Under 10's 6.00pm - 7.00pm 
    • Under 12's 6:30pm - 7:30pm

Games are on Sunday

    • Under 8's - 9am 
    • Under 10's - 10am
    • Under 12's - 11am

Volunteers

We still require additional coaches as well as Team Managers for the 2017 season. There is the likelihood of :

      • 4 -5 x U8 teams
      • 4 x U10 teams  
      • 2 x U12 teams
      • 1 x U13 , U15 & U17.5 teams registered in 2017.

If you are interested but don’t have coaching accreditation the Cove Football Club will assist with obtaining the required training.

SA Government sports voucher program

If your child (children) is in Primary School and you wish to use the $50 sports voucher from the SA Government, please register first and pay the full membership fee. You can download the Sports Voucher from www.sportsvouchers.sa.gov.au which you can lodge manually at the club through the Club Secretary (Kerri). The $50 will then be reimbursed to you via internet banking once approved by the Office for Sports and Recreation.


SFL League - Game Times

The Cove Football Club Sunday Competition plays within the Southern Football League (SFL). As part of this league, Mini’s Under 8’s – Under 12’s do not play a final series and no league ladder or scores are kept. The emphasis in these grades is about having fun, participation and learning basic football skills. A ‘Lightening Carnival’ will be held for these age groups, usually at the end of the season. The CFC does not alter their teams in these events.

These times are set by the SFL:

      • U8 - 9.00am Sunday 
      • U10 - 10.00am Sunday 
      • U12 - 11.00am Sunday 

All players are expected at the ground a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the game, unless advised differently by the coach. Players should ensure they are ready to play as soon as possible after their arrival at the ground. Coaches may require warm-ups and a team meeting.

In line with SFL Policy the following applies to Sunday Mini’s teams

      • No premiership win or loss points will be awarded or recorded
      • No finals series to be played
      • No publication of premiership ladders
      • No publication of match results

Age Qualification Date

The SFL’s age qualification date has changed for Under 8s to the 30th April. This means that your child must have turned 7 years old by the 30th April 2017. 

      • Under 10 players need to be turning age 9 or 10 in 2017
      • Under 12 players need to be turning 11 or 12 in 2017
      • Under 13 players need to be turning 13 in 2017

Player Rostering

Due to a limited amount of players allowed on the ground at one given time, Under 8’s = 12 players, Under 10’s= 15 players, U12-U18 = 18 players. Rostering of players may be necessary in some teams. This will be applied so that all players receive a fair opportunity to play. In the event that a player is sick or has a planned absence on a match day, please advise your coach/team manager as soon as possible so the roster can be adjusted fairly.

Even if you are rostered off, all players are encouraged to attend the match and bring their playing gear as sickness or injury may result in a position becoming available before the start of the game. If you are rostered off, your presence to support your teammates will be appreciated. Remember, everyone is part of the team and contributes to the team's success. 


Player Insurance

All financial players are covered by the AFL insurance scheme which assist in covering non-Medicare costs which may arise as a result of injury.


Mouthguards

Our sponsor Southern Dental on the Corner O’Sullivans Beach road and South Road Morphett Vale will assist in all mouth guard fittings. If you have private extras cover mouth guards may have little or no out of pocket expense.

Mouthguards are a requirement of CFC & SFL NO MOUTHGUARD NO PLAY.


Drink Up

It is expected that all players arrive at games and training properly hydrated and that during games and training they continually drink fluids provided.
