Team selection

We cap the number of players for each age group to match the number of teams we can support. It is club policy that a team will only be formed if a coach is available.If we don’t have a coach, we are unable to increase the number of places available once the cap has been reached

We are always looking for coaches and the club is able toassist in training. If you are interested in becoming a coachplease visit our volunteer page. 

Player Request:

We actively look to help our junior members get the most out of their basketball by taking requests for things like shared transport requirements or if there is a night/s that a player can't train.We want all players playing at a skill level that will benefit their development & enjoyment through the year. Sometimes this does mean we are unable to fulfil a request.

When dealing with requests the club applies the following policy.

The Division 1 team will be selected regardless of requests.

In the Division 2, 3 & 4 teams we will try to fulfil as many requests as possible, within reason, still holding to the idea, of where we have multiple teams in a division that they be split evenly. This is in the best interests of the players.

To submit your player request please email the club at enquiries@wbfalcons.com.au outlining the reason for the request. E.G, transport reasons.

 Uniform

Playing Singlets are provided by the club. Each team will have a set of singlets for the players to wear.
 
Shorts- You can buy the club shorts through our Online Store.

 Training Venue - We are very fortunate to have a 2 court stadium to train on at Centenary High.

Basketball Rings & Backboards - Please be aware that Centenary State High School & West Brisbane Falcons have a no dunking policy in regards to the sports & rec centre. Any backboard or ring broken by a player will be paid for by the player/parent if in violation of this policy.

The rule is if a player is seen hanging from the net, ring or back of the backboard then they are to be removed from training immediately and will not participate in that session. The coach will then report this player’s name to the club via email. If there is a second incident the players membership will be cancelled.  This also applies to the hoops being lowered so that players can dunk the ball. Any team or player seen to be doing this will be subject to the same penalties listed above in this heading. 

Game Day:

Each team is required to provide a score bench volunteer. Each team will have a score bench roster for parents to be on score bench.

Each team needs a parent volunteer for the role of Team Manager.  The team manager will roster a family to be on the bench each week.   If you can help the team by volunteering to be a Team Manager please speak to your coach.

Game Venues - Games are played at a number of venues across Brisbane, a majority of the games are played at NAB stadium, Auchenflower.  This is dependent on the number of teams playing each season and venue availability.  Team managers advise parents of the Game details each week. Jewellery (Boys & Girls) -

No jewellery can be worn during games so we encourage all players not to wear it to and during training. This includes earrings, watches, necklaces etc... This also saves some tears when players don't lose their jewellery particularly watches at training. Earrings are not allowed to be taped over so please if there are plans to have ears pierced, do it after the season ends.
