ECB 2 Glenfield Rovers 1 played 28/04/2007

Bays followed on from their Anzac Day victory over Albany with a hard fought 2-1 win over Glenfield at Bays City Park. The first half was virtually all Bays and they pressured the Glenfield goal right from the kick off with Gary Lonergan very busy saving from Dan Peat, Leigh Kenyon, Daniel Morgan-Howell and Ryan Zoghby as the home side pummelled the Glenfield defence to no avail. Then with a minute remaining before the break, bays won a corner and Phil Edginton beat his marker and got above the defence to head into the corner of the net. Glenfield came out fighting after the break and the bays defence wre made to feel some of the pressure they had inflicted on Glenfield in the first half. After Adam Crump had botched a chance and Brad Scott was just over the equaliser came in the 66th minute when sloppy defence allowed Tom Edwards to make the most of his chance. A long clearance from Jacob Spoonley five minutes later found Morgan-Howell who put a pass through to Arek Kubicki who in turn put Kenyon through to score. It was back and forth for the remaining minutes with both sides having chances but the sending off of James Maichtry for elbowing with four minutes remaining spoiled Glenfield"s chances of nabbing an equaliser. A hard fought local derby. Team: Spoonley, Forrest, Edginton, Sheehan, Zoghby, Hyde, Kenyon, Webster, Bresnahan (Kubicki 67), Peat (Gibson 89), Morgan-Howell (Grabowski 85) Scorers: Edginton 44, Kenyon 71
