ECB 1 Central United 4 played 07/07/2007

Meeting again just a week after the epic Chatham Cup clash was always going to be a let down and especially for East Coast Bays who failed to reach the intensity of 7 days earlier. Central had control of the game early and Sam Jewell was busy, saving from Luis Del Montes and David Richmond. In the 24th minute George Suri was adjudged to have commited a foul in hepenalty area and as he had done a week earlier, Del Monte made no mistake from the spot. The visitors continud to press and added to their lead five minutes before the break when the Bays defence were guilty of ball watching allowing Richmond time to cillect the ball, control it amd pick his spot. Jason McKeown had Bays first real strike in the last minutes of the half when his shot was turned for a corner and he was just wide from the resulting cross. It got worse just after halftime when Diego Rinquest lashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner of the net. Jewell made a great save from Richmond on the hour and Bays pulled one back minutes later when a Ric Sheehan freekick eluded the Central defence and nestled in the net. Bays took heart from this and McKeown was just wide with a header from a Leigh Kenyon cross and Central keeper Richard Gillespie made a great save to prevent an own goal. More action came in stoppage time when Del Monte received his second yellow card for shirt pulling and a Bays corner saw the ball bounce off Ryan Zoghby into the keeper"s hands. Central then broke from he resultant clearance and Richmond notched his second in the 95th minute. A disappointing repeat of the week before. Team: Jewell, Forrest, Sheehan, Zoghby, Bell (Broderson 61), Hyde, Kenyon, Suri, Webster (Morgan-Howell 67), Munoz (McKeown 29), Peat. Goals: Sheehan 67
