ECB 1 Bay Olympic 0 played 18/08/2007

Not for the first time this season, Arek Kubicki was in the right place to score the vital goal that gave Bays all three points and kept them in second place in the league tables. The first twenty minutes saw end to end play with neither side causing the other any problems. Colin Gardyne had the first shot in anger but it was just over and Dan Peat replied by hitting the side netting after good interplay with Kubicki and Leigh Kenyon. Nick Gibson, starting for the first time instead of subbing, saw his shot blocked for a corner and Jake Butler headed wide after a good cross from Prince Quansah and the half came to an end with Olympic looking the more dangerous. The second half tok a while to get going but just on the hour, Quansah beat the offside trap only to be denied by Sam Jewell while at the other end, Dan Morgan-Howell saw his shot equaly well saved by James Bryce. Alarms for Bays when Jewell lost the ball following a backpass but Joe Bresnahan cleared off the line. The vital goal came after Morgan-Howell hit the crossbar and the ball was scrambled behind for a corner. From the corner, Cam Howitt got a touch but Kubicki"s header forced the ball over the line. Both players were in action minutes latger when another Kubicki header was cleared off the line and the resultant corner saw Howitt"s header go wide. The closing minute of the game featured a great run by Morgan-Howell who cut inside and shot, the keeper parried the ball but Kubicki Couldn"t put away the rebound. Fine games from Nic Gibson and Glen Forrest in defence with Arek Kubicki and Dan Morgan-Howell causing problems up front. A cameo appearance for Gareth Buckley making his first team debut. Team: Jewell, Forrest, Sheehan, Zoghby, Gibson. Hyde, Kenyon, Bresnahan, McKeown (Morgan-Howell 46), Peat (Howitt 29 sub Buckley 83), Kubicki Goals: Kubicki 71
