A disappointing end to a very good season with a scoreline that didn"t reflect the state of play but had more to do with some non-existant defending especially in the second half. Allen Hill Stadium has not been a good ground for Bays over the years with only one win in the last seven visits and with Bays already confirmed as runners-up and Shore wanting a point to ensure safety, the omens were not good and proved to be so. It started well in the opening minutes with Bays creating chances but spoiling them with either poor finishing or bad passing at vital moments. It was probably not surprising that Shore took the lead just after the half hour against the run of play. Ryan Zoghby was unable to cut out Denver MacDonald"s cross and Sheldon Pillay met the ball and steered it past Sam Jewell. Bays had a futher chances just before the break but Arek Kubicki couldn"t beat Simon Eaddy to the ball. It all turned to custard in the second half and Alex Feneridis took advantage of some woeful defending to make it 2-0 in the 57th minute. Ten minutes later MacDonald received a pass, found a gaping hole in the defence and placed his shot wide of Jewell. Bays defending was non existant and not helped by some wayward ball distribution and a breakdown in midfield. Shaun Van Rooyen made it 4-0 with fifteen minutes to go and straight from the kick off Jeff Campbell found himself totally unmarked and made no mistake. With five minutes remaining Campbell hit the upright from a freekick and Bays woes continued when a Jason McKeown blast in th final moments beat everyone but cannoned off the upright. A sad way to end the season. Team: Jewell, Forrest, Sheehan (Broderson 46), Zoghby, Gibson (Morgan-Howell 70), Hyde, Kenyon, Webster, Bresnahan, Peat, Kubicki (McKeown 70).
