ECB 4 Takapuna 2 played 27/04/08 at Takapuna

East Coast Bays 4 Takapuna 2 This Sunday game proved a lot harder before Bays finally got home 4-2 over an ill-disciplined Takapuna side. After spurning a couple of chances, Bays went behind to a good Takapuna move that found the defence wanting. Avi Estrin was causing problems with his corners and one evaded efenders and attackers alike before hitting the upright and rebounding to safety. Bays equalised in the 18th minute after Leigh Kenyon ran with the ball into the box and was brought down. Dan Peat put away the penalty. Four minutes later a Takapuna defender handled in the box and Peat put away his second penalty. Chris Flanagan of Takapuna received his marching orders after getting two quick yellow cards and more cards followed as Takapuna players kept dissenting decisions mainly for late tackles as they were having trouble adjusting to the pace of the game. An Estrin drive gave bays 3-1 lead at half time. A Takapuna penalty three minutes into he second half pulled one back and although Bays were in control they were unable to put Takapuna away as they missed several easy chances. Chris Horrocks had been booked earlier in the game but continued his verbals at the referee and got his second yellow with five minutes remaining. In the last minute of ordinary time, A Peat run down the wing and cross allowed Daniel Morgan-Howell the easiest of tap ins to give some respectability to the score. Team: Jewell, Forrest, Suri (Webster 60), Hyde, Beguely, Estrin (Morgan-Howell 41), Kenyon, Zoghby, Bresnahan, Peat, Kubicki (Gibson 70) Scorers: Peat (pens) 19. 23, Estrin 36, Morgan-Howell 89
