ECB 3 North shore United 0 played 21/08/2008

A much improved North Shore side from the previous round gave East Coast Bays a much tougher time especially in the first half, but let themselves down with some bad, studs up tackling, which was to cost them later in the game. Dan Peat was denied in the first minute, but although Bays were dominant, bad passing was letting them down all too often. Shore were putting themselves about, but enthusiasm was over riding common sense and bad tackles cost them two yellow cards in two minutes mid way through the half. The breakthrough came with three minutes left on the clock when George Suri split the defence with a through ball that allowed Peat to run on to it and score from close range. Peat doubled his and the team"s score two minutes later with a typical run through the defence and a drive in to the net from close range to give Bays a comfortable half time lead. Two further yellow cards in the space of three minutes following the break, again for studs up tackles, were to prove costly for shore later in the game. A run down the right, followed by a strike at the near post gave Peat his hat trick in the 43rd minute and the game as as good as over. Some of the Shore players continued to think that aggression could change the game and this attitude was to cost them two players, in the 70th and 76th minutes, both receiving second yellow cards for identical offences of studs up tackles. With only nine players remaining on the field, it was all Bays, in the final minutes and Arek Kubicki was denied three times in front of goal. The win keeps Bays unbeaten in the championship and they can focus on their forthcoming Chatham Cup clash with Metro. Team: Gwilt, Forrest, Hyde (Kenyon 78), Edginton, Beguely (Estrin 57), Webster, Suri, McKeown, Morgan-Howell (Zoghby 53), Peat, Kubicki Scorers: Peat 42, 44, 53
