A stunning Clayton Lewis strike nine minutes from time gave Onehunga Sports the win over East Coast Bays in a game that flowed from end to end.
The game started brightly with both sides committed to attack. Tom Damon shot wide from a long throw and Onehunga wasted a chance from a free kick on the edge of the box.
The first goal came from an Onehunga corner, as Bays struggled to clear the ball, Ross Haviland nipped in and slammed it into the net.
Alex Carr saved at feet, Dylan Stansfield had a free kick tipped over the bar by Onehunga keeper Louis Caunter, Carr then pulled off saves to deny first Fabien Kurimata and then Lewis as play went from one end to the other.
With the first half drawing to a close, Bays equalised. Judd Baker got the ball, turned his marker and angled a drive past Caunter.
Onehunga were quickly on attack after the break and Carr pulled of a great save to deny Kurimata. The visitors then won a series of corners before Bays broke, the ball again found Baker, who finding his way forward blocked, squared to ball to Kieran McMinn who beat Caunter with a powerful strike.
A goal down, Onehunga came back. Lewis had two chances but put both wide. Carr again denied Kurimata with a fine block and some good defending kept Onehunga at bay.
An Onehunga sortie in the 72nd minute saw Alec Solomons penalised for hand ball and Andrew Milne made no mistake from the penalty spot.
Bays were under pressure but holding their own until Lewis got the ball from a clearance and with the outside of his foot, volleyed the ball past a helpless Carr into the net.
