The Premiers and Development team have finished their season.
A stoppage time goal from former Bays player Jack Anderson, gave Bay Olympic all three points in an entertaining, closely contested game.
The first half was largely cat and mouse with much midfield play and a lot of ball given away. Anderson had the first strike, shooting wide in the tenth minute. For Bays, Dylan Stansfield had a shot cleared off the line and Zane Olla saw his strike saved by the keeper.
Michael Williams saved well from a corner and a late strike from Bay Olympic hit the crossbar while Andrew Mobberley was thwarted in the last minute of the half, which ended scoreless.
Stansfield kept Olympic’s keeper, Liam Anderson, on his toes, early in the second half with a fine strike but when a free kick was given away in the 54th minute, the defence went to sleep and Matthew Thomas glided in, collected the ball and had it in the net.
A series of forays just past the hour saw Olla make a great run but Mobberley couldn’t get enough purchase on his strike and the keeper saved. Then Olla failed to get on the end of a Stansfield cross, and Mobberley was through, but called for offside. Bays won a free kick just outside the box but the Olypic defence blocked the shot.
Stansfield was denied again by Liam Anderson, and then with just ten minutes remaining, Olla latched on to a through ball and beat the keeper with a low drive.
Both teams were fighting for the points, Stansfield was denied again and Olympic saw a strike hit the upright.
The game moved into stoppage time, a Lee Robinson effort was blocked, the ball was quickly cleared, the Bays defence was caught out and Anderson scored the winner.
A draw may have been fair but this is football, we’ll get the break in another game.
