The Premiers and Development team have finished their season.
A missed penalty and several wasted chances saw Bays and Birkenhead battle out another draw. Birkenhead had the first chance when a break by Adam Dickenson forced a corner, then Jack Anderson poked his shot wide following confusion amongst the Birkenhead defence.
With ten minutes gone, Birkenhead were awarded a penalty and Jack Hobson-McVeagh gave Alex Carr no chance from the spot. Six minutes later, Bays were awarded a penalty but Joe Bresnahan’s attempt was comfortably saved by Damian Hurst.
A break by Zane Olla saw the ball move out to Brock Messenger on the flank but the final ball into the box was wide.
Carr pulled off a good save from James Lawson and then tipped a drive from Harry Bolton-Roberts over the bar.
At the other end, Olla saw his drive saved, while Jack Anderson placed his free kick to close to Hurst.
The midfields battled it out for the remainder of the half.
Words must have been said at halftime as a much more focussed Bays side emerged and immediately took the game to Birkenhead. Alec Solomons was prominent with two early attempts and a Messenger drive was parried away by Hurst.
Jason McKeown should have done better with a Kieran McMinn cross instead of blazing it over the bar but made amends just short of the hour, placing a free kick on to the head of Solomons who made no mistake with the equaliser.
A Ryan Howlett break was well blocked by Dillon Barnett, and Hurst saved from Andre De Jong as the game flowed from end to end.
Bays took the lead in the 69th minute when Olla won the ball and crossed to McKeown who lashed a right-footed drive past a helpless Hurst.
Could Bays hang on to this lead or score another? Birkenhead pressed and with fifteen minutes remaining, the Bays defence took too long to clear the ball and Dickenson took advantage of the confusion to smack home an equaliser.
Back and forth for the final minutes, neither side could get the better of the other and points were shared.
