The Premiers and Development team have finished their season.
A blustery wind sweeping across the ground made conditions difficult for both teams and it took a while to adjust to the conditions.
Playing into the wind, Bays forced a corner, Zane Olla’s cross found Dylan Stansfield and it was 1-0 p in the 11th minute.
A few minutes later, an Olla break saw a chance wasted, through a poor finish from Stansfield.
Bay Olympic had their first good chance after 27 minutes but Alex Carr made a good save to deny Jared Colligan.
Two minutes later a Bays attack saw a Stansfield header destined for the top corner only to be thwarted by an outstanding save from Bay Olympic keeper Mackenzie Waite.
James Pritchett kept the Bays defence on their toes with a couple of free kicks as the half wound down and Carr pulled off a great save to deny Adam Barkley.
Bays started the second half with one of the best moves of the game, Avi Estrin broke down the left flank, crossed the ball into the box, Waite could only palm the ball wide. Judd Baker got there first, cut the ball back and Kieran McMinn placed his shot under a despairing keeper to double the lead.
Bay Olympic hit back and a solid block from Jack Beguely stopped Ken Yamamoto. Then, just short of the hour, a defensive lapse let Colligan in and he drilled the ball wide of Carr to pull a goal back.
Bays then spent the next fifteen minutes camped in the Bay Olympic half. Joe Bresnahan shot wide, both Baker and Stansfield were denied by the offside flag,
Olla and Dillon Barnett had chances blocked.
With just over fifteen minutes to go, Bay Olympic had the chance of the match. Making a rare break, they were presented with an open goal, but the ball was blasted well over the crossbar.
As the game wound down, further chances were offered but spurned.
There should have been more chances taken, we are still not clinical enough, but three points is the most important part to lift us up the table.
