The Premiers and Development team have finished their season.
Some players have been known to attend training sessions, but only if it’s not too cold or wet. Indoor training has much more appeal, especially if the bar is open when tactics can be discussed at length. Pre-game warm ups usually involve getting from the change rooms to the pitch.
Not sure who actually coaches them, they have a minder/nanny who fills in the team card and looks after the gear, actual team selection often depends on availability (who turns up on time) and fitness, (those able to make their way from the change rooms to the pitch in time for kick off).
There is several hundred years experience in the team and they have international trophies to display and were runners up to Brazil in the recent World Masters Tournament in Turin.
They have been known to travel Auckland wide in search of teams to beat, but recently have confined their search to north of the Harbour Bridge as they play in the Over 35 League Division 3. Most players vaguely remember what is was like to be 35 as that was quite a long time ago, possibly last century.
Great club members, they always return for a get together no matter where they have been playing and this weekend they have all the more reason to celebrate, having won the championship with two games remaining.
Congratulations to John and the team, there will be a glass or three raised in celebration as Mums Mob add another trophy to their stellar collection.
