The Premiers and Development team have finished their season.
It was a hard-fought game between two good sides with East Coast Bays prevailing on the day.
Under 20 goalkeeper, Oliver Sail had to be quick off his line to get to the ball, centimetres before Dillon Barnett following a Bays attack in the fourth minute and the keeper was in action twice in the next ten minutes to deny Andre De Jong and Barnett again.
It wasn’t all one sided with Central forcing a good save from Aidan Gwilt and then going ahead in the nineteenth minute when James Hoyt latched on to a poor clearance and drove his shot into the corner of the net.
Play sallied back and forth following the goal although the defences blunted the opposition attacking moves.
With three minutes remaining in the half, Bays equalised with the goal of the game and one of the season’s best, when De Jong made a great run, taking out two defenders, before planting the ball past Sail.
Bays could have gone ahead two minutes later when Sail and a defender got in a muddle and the ball broke to Luiz Del Monte. Expected to score, he somehow lifted his shot over the bar.
It took Bays six minutes into the second half to take the lead. A De Jong break saw the ball sent out to Del Monte, who crossed from the right to Mario Hoffman who scored from close range.
Bays pressed for a third, but some outstanding goalkeeping from Sail kept them at bay. He denied Barnett, De Jong, and Baptiste Azame who all had good chances.
Central kept the Bays defence on its toes but Gwilt only really had to make one serious save to deny Regont Murati.
A good win putting Bays back into contention with the league logjammed with only three points separating the first seven teams. A great team effort with outstanding games from Andre De Jong and Emmanuel Darkwa.
The debut of 15 year old Jack Anderson near the end of the game, made him one of the youngest players to pull on a shirt for the Premiers
