Bays come 5th in ACFC Under 17 tournament

The Auckland City Under 17 tournament was held from 21 to 23 March and a very young East Coast Bays team finished 5th on overall points in the 24 team competition with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in pool play. The quarter final draw put them against Three Kings who had won the tournament last year. Bays started strongly, with two one on ones with the goalkeeper but couldn't quite finish off. Scoreless at half time, Three Kings started the second half strongly scoring after five minutes, Bays had a great shot from 25 metres which struck the crossbar, bouncd down and away from goal. Try as they might, Bays couldn't get an  equaliser and the game ended 1-0 to Three Kings.

The talk of the tournament was of the East Coast Bays team who had nine 14 year old boys in the squad, a tribute to the coaching staff of Peter Moxham and Jeoff Healey who spent all summer coaching the boys.

A superb effort and the boys are looking forward to the Under 17 Metro League this season.
