GIRLS/WOMENS FOOTBALL - UPDATE

East Coast Bays are pleased to announce the appointment of Santi Vega as the coach for our top women’s team. Santi, a coach of the Women’s Premier team previously, brings with him a wealth of football knowledge and a great ability to build and bond teams. In addition to Santi’s appointment we are pleased to announce the involvement of Jenny Bindon (most capped Football Fern in NZ). Jenny will assist as a technical consultant as well as guest coach. Willy Gerdsen, ECB’s Coaching Director and assistant coach for NZ under 17 and Wanderers SC Young All Whites, will also run some training sessions. In 2014 Women’s football will have the use of the Game Breaker analysis system, to assist in coaching individual players and the team as a whole.

The Auckland City U17 Youth Tournament takes place over Easter and we will be entering a very strong young team into this, hoping that the experience and strength of competition brings out the best in their talents. The majority of these players will be involved in our Women’s 1st team as well as the development squad for 2014. As we see this as a very important part of our development pathway, Jassen Elliott and Santi Vega will be coaching this squad commencing training in February.

Our 2013 season was very successful, with our top women’s team winning their league convincingly and being promoted to Women’s Conference League keeping us well on track with strategic plan. This focuses on having our Women’s Premier Team playing in the highest league possible for 2016.

2013 saw “girls only” teams increase to ten junior/youth teams throughout all the grades. This allowed us to have a competitive team in the combined girls leagues at 13th, 15th and 17th grade. Our other junior teams playing within the NFF competition were also successful. In 2014 all top teams will have independent coaches working towards coaching qualifications.

In 2014 we look forward to having both social and competitive teams across all the grades as well as at a senior level, so players of all levels and abilities are welcome in for the upcoming season.

Preseason Training for Senior Women and Under 17s will commence on Tuesday 4 February at Deep Creek Reserve, Deep Creek Road, Torbay from 7pm. All are welcome.  Please ring Jassen or Nichola to advise of your attendance.

All other age groups – register on line at www.ecbafc.co.nz and you will be placed in teams accordingly.
