1. 1.     Replacing Rod Grove as Assistant Coach for our Premier Team has been a priority task for the club since Rod announced his retirement from the role in August   However, we are now pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Gove and Jase Kim as assistants to Coaching Director Willy Gerdsen.

Stephen Gove has been playing football in both his native Scotland for 23 years and, for the last 15, in New Zealand.   Whilst in Scotland Stephen, a lifelong Celtic supporter, played for various clubs including Brechin City in the then Scottish Division 1, before moving to New Zealand where his first 3 seasons were spent playing for the East Coast Bays Premier Team before he progressed through the coaching ranks with Player Coach roles at Albany, Hibiscus Coast and latterly Warkworth.   In his career he has played over 1500 games at senior level and scored almost 500 goals, some of which he claims were scored from outside the 6 yard box!!  Stephen brings with him a wealth of experience at various levels, an infectious enthusiasm for the game plus a detailed appreciation of player management, tactics and game preparation.

Alongside Stephen we have also appointed Jase Kim who will specialise in our Gamebreaker software analysis system, conditioning and nutrition.  Jase is about to complete his Bachelor of Statistics course at the University of Auckland and is the current chairman of the New Zealand Korean Football Association.   In New Zealand Jase has been in charge of the Papatoetoe Reserve Team competing in the NRFL Division 1 Reserve League and also coached the St Kentigerns School 1st XI and 15A Grade.  His practical coaching experience is backed up by formal senior coaching qualifications from the Football Federation of Australia and also New Zealand Football Youth qualifications.

We are excited that both Jase and Stephen have agreed to join us and welcome them to the club.   We look forward to them making their mark over the coming months as we plan for and build up to the 2014 season.

In addition, we are also pleased to confirm that Joe Daw, the coach of our Senior Mens Development Team, has extended his role to cover the overall development of youth teams from 13th Grade up to the Senior Development Team.

The final element of the coaching team is the re-appointment of Dave Cunningham as Goalkeeper Coach.

All the above assisted by the excellent support from Alan Gisby and Stephen Buckley.
