MUMS MOB - THE GREAT ESCAPE

This despatch from our intrepid correspondent, Clark Kent and his assistant Lois Lane, has been delayed due to security restrictions….we had to ensure that our gallant lads were able to quietly and surreptisously melt into the background….carrying away their haul of precious metals and opposition flags….without threat of capture !!!

Furthermore the match report has had to be handled by an agency reporter as the day started with our correspondent having to be “Medivaced” from the front lines, first back to Paris and then further to London, due to not only his shoulder injury but also an outbreak of dysentery……it was feared that this may pass through the camp - further limiting the already stretched playing resources. Accompanying him was Lois and also the embedded tour Official photographer as he had evidence of identities of all members of the raiding party. This was despite him spending most of the time further behind enemy lines in Florence running a “recce” for future invasions. His photographic reports though would have proven to be of vital importance had this fallen into the wrong hands. Simon was also slipping into the sunset prior to the quarter final and heading for the safety of Spain.

What with the injuries and early departures we were at full stretch to put a team and subs onto the park…..the physio was once again being called on to work above and beyond the call of duty. However at least the weather was helping us….we think…..with the game being played in the rain and a large part in a spectacular thunder and lightening storm. However the Brazilians were a good side…having had 5 wins from 5 in their group against our 1 win, 2 draw and 2 loss record. Even the Singaporean syndicates thought there was no gain to be made putting money on Mums Mob. However the boys put in a valiant effort and despite losing 1 – 0 had the Brazilians worried on more than 1 occasion…we might even have been able to sneak an equaliser but at the end of the day the Brazilians deserved their win and with it the entry into the semi final.

That meant that Mums Mob were confirmed as silver medal winners in the o40….with the Brazilians getting the Gold. Cause to celebrate….(just another reason for a drink !!) but minds had to be reasonably alert for THE following days escape plans to be fully implemented.

Immediately the remaining members of the squad grabbed their haul of silverware they quietly made their way to pre agreed RVP’s to avoid capture. They escaped via train, via plane, via boat, and via car. All the squad have successfully now reached their exit points and over the next few days and weeks will be making their weary way back to Auckland….and it is fairly certain that there will be another celebration held back on friendly soil !!!!!

A brilliant trip, with a great end result. Everyone has had a great time and had the time of their lives…..and parts of these despatches have actually been true !!!!!

One final updated piece of financial advice (unlicensed, of course)……….Shares in Peroni now rated an immediate SELL…..recommend replace with those of Heineken, now rated an immediate BUY !!!!

Clark Kent…….Over and Out !!
