New Look East Coast Bays Ready to Start Season

Pre-season training has gone well and the new look East Coast Bays Premier team is eagerly awaiting the opening game of the 2012 season against Waitakere City this Sunday at Fred Taylor Park

Willy Gerdsen and Rod Grove remain in charge and are pleased to welcome back Phil Edginton who has recovered from his knee injury that kept him out of action last season. Also joining the club are Kelly Escolme and Mikael Munday from Forrest Hill Milford, Nathan Palmer from Ellerslie, Scott Campbell from Glenfield Rovers and Alex Carr from the USA and previously Melville.

Promoted to the Premiers are Emmanuel Darkwa and Julyan Halkyard from the Reserve side along with Deklan Wynne and Nicolai Berry from the Under 17’s.

Leigh Kenyon and Joe Bresnahan will captain the side this season.

Glen Forrest is taking a year off due to work and family commitments, while Ryan Zoghby is out due to injury and modeling commitments. Ryley Webster is overseas and Chris Trent is concentrating on his studies. Other departures include Dan Morgan, believed to be with Three Kings, Tim Pilkington (overseas), Avi Estrin (studies). Lance Eeson and Ryan Young are not returning.

Last year’s Reserve team has undergone profound changes becoming a Development Squad in which the oldest player is 19. It will be under the tutelage of Dragan Nikolic and Ric Sheehan. Former  coach, Dave Cunningham has become goalkeeper coach for the club and the older members of last years Reserves have joined the NFF Division 1 side, expected to be very competitive.

The club is entering an Under 19 team in the Met League for younger players on the fringe of the Development Squad
