Y3P: fantastic supporters of our club

Again we would like to recognise the fantastic support we get from our Y3P foundation which has supported the club over many years and this year will see the contributions hit almost $15K over the last 10 years.

This fantastic support has enabled the club to keep fees at the same level for over eight years despite the cost of participation growing each year.

Thanks to Chris Benning - who this year steps down as the co-ordinator of the Y3P - for all his efforts over the years.

Chris said in the latest newsletter to 3YP members: "On a personal note this is the last time I'll be writing to you for your support. The Y3P Foundation will still be continuing so you won't be getting out that easy. Help me go out with a bang and donate plenty."

Chris also said in the newsletter:

"Y3P patrons, congratulations. A decade ago we started this foundation to support our Junior Basketball Program. Even though our numbers have fallen away, over $12,000 has been donated (last year $1560 was donated). Thank you all for your wonderful support of a club we love and cherish.

Your ongoing contributions take a large burden off the committee and parents and sustain a fantastic program. Y Basketball is virtually the last volunteer base vehicle YMCA has in Geelong.

That is why our donations are so critical. It's not the premierships we have won - and there have been plenty - but the ability to help 170 young people each year enjoy what we had (some are some generation).

I don't know about you, but in my case to this day outside my family, the Y has had the biggest influence on my life.

All my closest friends over the past five decades are and will always be Y people (thanks Mongrels).

On a personal note this is the last time I'll be writing to you for your support. The Y3P Foundation will still be continuing so you won't be getting out that easy. Help me go out with a bang and donate plenty.

Again, to assist with communication, could you please forward your current email address to Tamba at craig.herbert@godfreyhirst.com

Also, it has been 10 years since we formed this wonderful foundation so it may be time for a get-together, a drink, afew laughs, and talk about how good we used to be. If interested, email Tamba and we will organise a date."

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
