No matter who you play for, the Australian football community in Western Sydney is a tight family and over the years many of the players build up friendships that go beyond club football. The Penrith Swans extends its deepest sympathies to the Edwards family hearing of their loss, with Nick Edwards tragically losing his life in a motor vehicle accident last Monday.
Penrith Swans Under 16 coach Phil Lane, who had coached against Nick on many occasions had the following words to offer:
On behalf of the Penrith Swans I would like to offer our deepest condolences to the Edwards family and friends on the loss of Nick.
As a coach I always watch for the better players in opposition teams, and at the Hawkesbury Saints Nick was one of those players that I knew was gifted and had the ability to tear a game apart. As opposition coach it was hard watching Nick dominate at times but also a pleasure to watch a player of his ability show his talents. The best thing I found about Nick was that he played the game hard but always fair. Our region has lost one of its sons.
Deepest Sympathies
Phil Lane
