Auskick is a great way to learn all the skills required for participation in Australian Rules Football and is aimed at all boys and girls from 5 years to 11 years old.
Auskick is a friendly, family oriented program run by volunteers within the club. It is parent participation program with many of the skills taught to both the parent and child.
The Gap Dragons run Auskick in the pre-season (March through to April). It concludes with the Junior Guernsey Presentation when those participates who have registered with Juniors will receive a club guernsey and all others a medallion. All participates will receive details on how to register for the Auskicker of the Year competition.
Once you have registered and paid for Auskick, you can join any afterschool Auskick session throughout the remaining calendar year for no extra charge. Bring your footy and, if you still have it, your invoice to the school and talk to the AFLQld Coordinator to inform them you have paid elsewhere.
The club runs an 8 week program with an introduction to the Under 6 competition for those children of that age group.

Really enjoyed Auskick? Go to the next level!
If your child enjoyed their Auskick experience, they can continue playing football in the club's Junior competition, called Roy's Junior Footy Program (or 'Roy's' for short) for Under 6 players, then known by age group. The Junior competition starts in Term 2 on Saturday mornings. The Under 8 to Under 11 teams train Wednesday from 4:30pm onwards.
Each registered player receives a playing jumper (known as a Guernsey) for the season but you will need to purchase club shorts and socks. It is highly recommended to acquire a mouthguard from either a chemist, sports store, dentist or mobile specialist. This is a requirement for Under 9s onwards. Plastic moulded football boots can be purchased from any sports store.
Games are generally played on Saturday mornings with the Roy's team starting the day. The draw is found on the Dragons website under Teams, Fixture/Results. The first few rounds are published a week or two at a time, with the entire season published by Round 4 or 5.
Registration is via the club's website and you will need access to a proof of age document. A smart phone photo or scan can be attached to the form during registration. Any document with the child's full name and date of birth can be used.
Please note that all Roy's Junior Footy program players are required by AFL Qld to have registered for Auskick before their Junior registration can be completed. Note, this is for Under 6 only. If you missed the club's Auskick session, you can register for any of the local afterschool programs. Remember, once you have registered for Auskick you can join in at any afterschool program within the same calendar year.
Good luck and we hope you enjoy your footballing experience.
