The Carindale Cougars is dedicated to skill development and player enjoyment in age categories from U6’s through to U11’s. We are a participation-based club whose mission is to ensure each player receives a fair and equal opportunity to learn and develop football skills within a supportive and encouraging environment.
Our Club was formed in 1994, in response to the growing interest in junior Australian Rules Football in the local area.
Since its inception, the Club’s home ground has been based at the Belmont State School, cnr Scrub Rd and Bridgenorth St Carindale. The School does have a NO DOG on premises policy.
Today, our players and their families come from many parts of the local district, including Carindale, Carina, Belmont, Chandler, Gumdale, Mackenzie, Holland Park, Mt Gravatt and Manly.
The Cougars play in a Junior Rules competition. The focus of Junior Rules is purely on positive participation by players, parents and officials. The Junior Rules season of 16 games is completely non-competitive, meaning children are free to enjoy themselves without the pressure of winning and losing. This concept has proven to be very successful by encouraging many children who wouldn’t normally consider playing sport (due to the stress of competition) to participate.
As a not for profit organisation, The Cougars rely on the support of a loyal band of parent volunteers. For Season 2016, the Club had over 30 volunteers who during the course of the season sacrificed their personal time to ensure we provided a quality service to all our players and their families.
