Notice of Annual General Meeting - 3rd March 2018, at 2pm
The committee wishes to announce the Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday 3rd March 2018, at 2pm at the clubhouse. Here we will present the financial report from the 2016/2017 year along with election of the new committee. We urge all members to be in attendance and help elect the new committee who will take us forward in 2018.
Send your nomination to be part of the new committee to Zillmerejuniors@aflbj.com
It is with gratitude and huge appreciation we say thank you to the following members of the committee as they finish up their term here at Zillmere Eagles JAFC.
Chris Healy stood in as president just for the year over 3 years ago. We wish to thank him for his tireless work in getting our clubhouse renovations completed. Since the opening of the venue, he has worked every day to maintain its high standard through maintenance, cleaning, manning the bar, and many other jobs outside of the scope of president. As his time is now up, Chris will be standing down to focus on his business.
Tami Dunn volunteered as secretary 2 years ago to allow Liz to do the role she does best in grants. Tami’s knowledge from the past 20 years involvement in community football in South East Queensland has been invaluable in steering the committee through some major projects. We wish Tami all the best as she takes time to return to full time university.
Ashleigh Hales volunteered to act as treasurer three years ago when the previous committee handed over the reins. With the support of our amazing grants officer Liz, Ashleigh has been instrumental in managing club finances over this time. With the withdrawal of our women's team this season, this also sees Ashleigh departing the club after 10 years to pull on the boots elsewhere. With the travel required for training now, Ashleigh will also say goodbye to her role as under 6 Roy's Footy and under 11 girls coaches.
Grant Davis stepped in to fill the role of football operations manager mid-way through last year when our previous football operations manager departed for a new employment opportunity. Grant has been the manager of our social media platforms and has played an important role in the development of our boys and girls over summer.
Tania Brown has volunteered for many roles over her last 6 years here at Zillmere, from canteen lady to team manager and finally as registrar last year. Assisting Ashleigh with the registration requirements of our club, Tania has been a huge help and is always the first to volunteer for any function that we host. With both of her girls growing up playing football elsewhere this year, Tania leaves our committee after a tremendous amount of her time and effort has been donated.
Liz O'Brien as our grants officer will be taking a back seat role in the operations of the club in this year. Still integral in obtaining financial support from the various levels of government and other private enterprises, Liz will play a role in the acquisition of grants behind the scenes.
With such a wealth of experience departing our committee, it is important that we find new members willing to put their hand up. The outgoing committee will be staying on for the first few months to ease the transition and teach the new committee the ropes. We thank the previous committee for their substantial commitment over the past few years and look forward to seeing them around the club for functions to come.
With a larger number of volunteers, the workload of the committee becomes lightened and the process is easy to commit to. The club has plenty of exciting opportunities arising in the next few months and we would like you to be a part of it!
Please consider the role descriptions for committee members attached and nominate via email if you would like to take up one of these positions. If an elected position is not for you, we are looking for 3-5 committee members to sit with the executive and voice their opinions on the direction of the club.
For more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we hope to see you at the AGM on Saturday 3rd March 2018.

A message from our President
A Christmas Message from our Zillmere Eagles JWAFC President -
As we approach Christmas, I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you my thoughts on the year that was!
In 2017 we fielded 2 senior teams in the both the Men’s and Women’s competitions , 10 junior/youth teams and a great Auskick program for the younger kids. We also had great success with both our U14’s side and Senior Men’s team winning their respective Grand Finals, our new clubhouse was opened and since has given us significant revenue to enable financial growth in 2018. We had many successes this year as a family community sports club, for which we should all be very proud. The Committee has been very busy over the past couple of months planning some great things for 2018. We’ve recruited some sensational new players and coaches for 2018 who are enthusiastic about the success of our club.
As 2017 draws to an end, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to our successes – bring on 2018! On behalf of the Committee, I would like to wish all our Players, Parents, Sponsors and Social Members a very safe and Merry Christmas.
Kind Regards, Chris Healy

Get Started Vouchers Open 25 January 2017
Queensland Government’s Get Started Vouchers program opens 25 January 2017. Please note important changes to the program, specifically around the referral agent process.
What is Get Started Vouchers?
Get Started Vouchers is an initiative to provide up to $150 to eligible children and young people, to help pay for sport or recreation club membership and/or participation fees through registered clubs.
If the child/young person or their parent/carer/guardian holds a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, they can apply online as soon as the round opens. These children do not need to use the referral agent process.
Updates to the referral agent process
The department is changing the referral agent process to ensure that children and young people who can least afford the costs to participate are supported by Get Started Vouchers. To ensure that the vouchers are going to those families most in need, a new referral agent process will be implemented from Round 9.
The department now requires that eligible referral agents register with the department to be able to refer children and young people for a voucher. Further details regarding referral agent criteria and eligibility requirements are on our website, along with fact sheets for parents and referral agents. Simply Google ‘Get Started Vouchers’ or go to the information here www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/getinthegame/getstarted/refer/.
A child/young person can be referred to the program by a registered referral agent if they have access to a Health Care Card/Pensioner Concession Card, where there are significant issues that prevent the parent/carer/guardian from applying.
These issues may include: internet or computer access, computer illiteracy, Living in rural/remote areas with limited internet capability.
Further to this, referral agents may apply on behalf of a parent/carer/guardian where they are aware of the need for financial support to join their local sport or recreation club, and are assisting in their professional capacity.
For further information on the Get Started Vouchers program, please refer to the website - www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/getinthegame/getstarted/.
