28/04/2007 U12 Div 3 Match Report

For our second game of the year we traveled to Everton where we met a very strong team from Redcliffe. Whilst the scoreboard did not look too good, I think there were many positives to come out of the game.

Firstly the boys followed the instructions and game plan I had given them, Redcliffe were just a bit stronger man for man. We certainly improved as the game went on, to the extent that we actually won the final quarter. There were some good passages of team play, we just need to work on more of the same.

There were some exceptional individual performances, in particular Kurtis Mason who really put his body on the line in a couple of marking contests in our backline. Kurtis's efforts prevented a much taller opponent from taking easy marks. Jack Roberts took what I thought was the mark of the day, the kick went so high I thought it would come down with snow on it, however to Jack's credit he never took his eyes off the ball, and marked it securely on his chest. Daniel Foster took every opportunity that came his way, he took solid marks, got into the packs and won the hard ball, and made some good tackles.

In summary all the boys gave 100% for the whole game, and I cannot ask for any more than that.

See you all next week,
