On a hot Saturday morning the under 10 boys were keen to bounce back after last weeks loss to Wilston Grange.
It was our first home game and Oxenard Park looked magnificent bathed in sunshine. The boys started slowly and it took some time to implement our coach, Mark Gordon's game plan. Kedron had some big boys and we needed to run the ball quickly around the boundary to penetrate our forward line. We struggled in the first half and turned the ball over whilst coming out of defence. The message sunk in after half time and our boys played some fantastic footy to clinch a great win against a very good Kedron team. Nick Glass, Tom Gordon and Floyd Morrison lead by example in the second half well, supported by Henry Sawyer and Oscar Loveday. Some of our bigger players in Ryan Bock, Jesse Meyer, William Simpson and Matthew Munro were able to curb the dominance of Kedron's bigger players in the second half.
It was great to see our new players for 2013 Gus Dempsey and Justin Sullivan in the think of the action all day, both playing really good games.
It was a good team effort and Zac Arnolda, Max Davis, Haydn Petersen and Brian Pullen also contributed well, particularly in the second half.
Louis Quin won the coach's award for a great game and the player awards went to Adnan Pillay in his best game for the Tigers and Matthew Jansen for his ferocious attack on the ball at all times.
Well done to both teams on what was a really entertaining game of footy!
