Match ReportYolla entered the match as hot favourites. They had ended the roster games undefeated and thrashed Yeoman in the Second Semi-Final. But Yeoman soon showed that their approach to this game was to be entirely different. After a first half in which the respective forward lines took their time to make an impression, it seemed to many just a matter of time before the Demons exterted their superiority as they had throughout the season. But the struggle continued in the third quarter with Yeoman edging ahead with the use of a breeze.Early in the last quarter Yolla scored 2 quick goals and took a lead of 8 points. The favourites had their break and looked like taking control. But again Yeoman fought back and attacked for most of the last 15 minutes of the match. Malcolm Salter grabbed a kick in the forward pocket; the ball slewed in front of the goals; young rover Shawn Fraser flung himself at the ball, took a gutsy mark and kicked what became the winning goal. Yolla tried to lift but Yeoman had been more desperate at the ball all day and would not surrender its first flag since 1978.
Match Report ("Advocate", 7th September, 1992)
In the Reserves Grand Final, Yeoman, after being thrased by Yolla in the second semi-final, bounced back to record a gutsy, nail biting six point win over the previously undefeated Demons.
Nothing separated the teams in the first half, as both sides were locked in at 4.3 at half-time.
Yeoman held a seven point lead at three quarter time, which was the biggest lead by either side all day. A titanic stuggle developed in the last quarter, with Yeoman kicking 3.3 for the term to Yolla's 3.4 and at the final siren, the Robins held on to record a six point victory.
Yeoman's Ayton, Johns, Shaun Fraser and Purton played inspirational football for their side, while captain Neal, Russell Frankcombe, Haines and Johnson played four solid quarters for the Demons.
