Shadows Review- Week two finals; Doggies bounce back

St Pauls V Cheltenham

SENIORS – Sponsored by Merkon & Junto Café

The St Pauls footy club is an amazing organisation. From the men at the top who run the footy club to the guys who fill the drink bottles at training – Yeah… It’s the same blokes. And it’s this get it done attitude that has filtered its way right through the playing group. And so it was on show again as our boys dismantled Cheltenham’s finals campaign with a ferocious brand of contested footy. Marra put in a canine hearted effort in the ruck as he turned back the ‘Ben Pian’ in a vintage performance; he even displayed some soccer skills which found their targets. Exciting young forward Matty Kreymborg ignited the match with five goals to half time and was too strong in the air and too nimble on the ground for the procession of opponents that went to him. A-Mac, Junior and Willow had the midfield humming and Kenny & Donger controlled things down back. Kenny has the unique ability to wear his man like a glove but play just off him when the footy is in the air; this allows him the use of his spring to absolutely kill the contest. Finally a quote from the coach… “The only place success comes before work… Is in the dictionary”

This week we face off again against Chelsea Heights for the right to go on… one more time.

Semi Final- St Pauls V Dingley

RESERVES – Sponsored by the Sandbelt Hotel & Total Waste Solutions

The opening half was typically tough contested finals footy but the boys marched into the Grand Final with a polished 4 quarter display that saw us record a 35 point win over Dingley. Wyldy was the clearance king as he continually won the hard ball at the centre bounces and ran away with the Sherrin to drive it deep into attack. Ben Carracher played a great game in defence as did star veteran Prewy and the rock solid Jack Kreymborg. We had winners in Boofa with his mullet and the Clock set his alarm early and was fierce at every contest which makes a huge difference to how we setup. Toddy Caulfield and B Raff were dangerous again as was the athletic Matty O who is constantly vying with Hayesy for mark of the decade. The pleasing thing was that every single player chimed in when needed and when the game was there to be won we put the foot down and to put the contest out of Dingleys reach. Dazza & Sammy are conspiring to make that last Saturday in September a very happy one. Go the Dog!!
