Weekly Wrap Up 31/5/2014
Caulfield emerged victorious after a tremendous display of Bears Footy against Hampton on Saturday. In doing so, our 1st XVIII showed the rest of the competition that the Bears are up and about and not to be taken lightly.
The 1sts 67-point win was underpinned by a blistering 10-goal third term, probably our best quarter of footy for the year. Adam Connell dominated up forward with eight majors while Tom Dickson worked tirelessly all afternoon and finished with four. Adam Ballard, Chris Dove and Ash Cooper were also outstanding in the back half.
The reserves unfortunately came away from Hampton without the four points but there were plenty of encouraging signs. Luke Cieslak played his first game for the year and dominated with his pin-point accuracy by foot. Johnny Hunter played one of his best games for the club in the middle, Matty Blee starred in the backline and Chris Lacey booted four goals.
With no games this weekend, let’s make sure we train hard and build upon our good work and give Springvale Districts a touch up at home in two weeks’ time.
Just a reminder to keep selling those raffle tickets for the $1,000 draw/iPod shuffle night. It was a ripping night last year and it’s sure to be just as big again this year. We are aiming to sell 500 tickets this year so make sure you bring the darls and your mates along to the Cave on Saturday 14th June for a big night. The last night for ticket collection is Thursday 12th and make sure you see Tim Kennedy to suggest a song for the iPod playlist and explain to him in 20 words or less why that song should be included.
