2014 RDFNL Fixture Released

The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football Netball League is pleased today to officially release its playing fixture for the 2014 RDFNL football and netball seasons.

The 18-round season, which commences on Saturday 5th April 2014, is packed full of highlights, including...

  • Night football at Romsey Park, which is scheduled for both the Redbacks' season opener against Broadford and a Round 3 ANZAC Day encounter with Wallan
  • The continuation of the successful NAIDOC Carnival match at Rockbank, to be played in conjunction with NAIDOC Week on Sunday 13th July as part of Round 13 between the Rams and Lancefield.
  • Riddell unfurling their 2013 premiership flag against Melton Centrals in Round 2
  • A clear break for the Easter period after Round 2, and again for the Worksafe AFL Victoria Country Championships after Round 6.
  • 2014 Preliminary Finalists Riddell and the Sunbury Kangaroos again facing off in a stand-alone Sunday fixture in Round 5.
  • Romsey continuing to host their Pink Netball Day in Round 5, with the senior football match between Romsey and Macedon scheduled as a twilight fixture.
  • Two ANZAC Day encounters, with both the aforementioned night match between Romsey and Wallan and the traditional ANZAC Day match between Rockbank and the Sunbury Kangaroos at Ian Cowie Reserve on Friday 25th April
  • The potential for an AFL International Cup match to be played in conjunction with the Romsey v Woodend-Hesket match in Round 17
  • The re-match between 2013 Grand Finalists Riddell and Diggers Rest to be played at Riddell's Creek Recreation Reserve in Round 7.

This fixture is subject to change, with clubs still negotiating special stand-alone fixture requests for the 2014 season, which will be advised as they are submitted and approved by the RDFNL Executive.

The RDFNL can also announce that if they are scheduled to host a home fixture in the 2014 Worksafe AFL Victoria Country Championships, it will be played at Romsey Park on Saturday 24th May. This is subject to finalisation of the Worksafe AFL Victoria Country Championship schedule by AFL Victoria.

FInals venues have not been announced as part of this fixture release, and will be announced during the 2014 season closer to the finals.

The RDFNL will again schedule various "Theme Rounds" for the 2014 fixture, which will be announced once the AFL have announced their Theme Round schedule for 2014 in order for the RDFNL to tie in as closely to the AFL themes as possible.

The completed fixture is attached below
