Cannons Mourn A Legend...

It is with a heavy heart that that I inform you of the passing of Calder Cannons Life Member Neil Wood.

Neil served as a board member and volunteer administrator of the Essendon District Football League for over 20 years and was rewarded for his tremendous contribution to football in the North West with Life Membership of the EDFL.  Neil continued his services to football by acting as the Calder Cannons U18 Timekeeper from 2001 to 2010.  Neil was also the current Calder Cannons Club Historian and in 2008 Neil was awarded Life Membership of the Calder Cannons Football Club.

Neil’s loyalty, gentle manor and unique sense of humour were some of the qualities that I am sure have left a lasting impression on many of us over the years.

A private funeral will be held on Friday with a celebration of Neil’s life to follow in the afternoon - I will forward on the arrangements once the details have been confirmed.

Please keep the Wood family in your thoughts and prayers, in particular to his beloved wife Ruth.

May he Rest In Peace.
