The AFC Black Tie Gala Night was held last Saturday night (16 July) and it was fantastic success with over 120 committee members, players and their lovely ladies attending on the night.
Our social rooms were remarkably transformed into a nightclub for the evening and this was designed by the lovely Natalee Martin (Hollywoods much better half) who is an interior designer. Thanks so much Nat.
It was great to see our players, the committee, and the wives and partners dressing up in their formal wear for the evening (except for Haggs of course who actually thinks that jeans and a tee shirt is formal wear). There was one senior coach on the night (whose initials are Anthony Eamse) who wanted him ejected on the night so we don`t think Haggs has heard the end of this.
The one thing that was obvious on the night, is our players and coaching staff are punching well above, and I mean well above their weight when it comes to their wives and partners.
The night was organised by China and Freeza who both worked tirelessly to make this night the success that it was. The work that China in particular put into this is a credit to him, and Freeza as the MC worked the room with the poise of Gerry Seinfield.
A highlight of the night was the auctions, which was conducted by our very own Paul (golden tonsils) Saville. The highlight was nothing to do with Savs or the magnificent items up for auction, it was the lovely ladies Natalee, Sally and ??? who modelled the three jumpers up for auction.
Another highlight was the auctioneering talents of Adrian Spiteri (who now has the nickname Game Changer after his self-confessed goal of the Decade on Saturday). Spita whipped the crowd into a frenzy with his cameo auction of his dishwasher. At one point we thought ‘The Game Changer’ was about to blow pooper valve but he composed himself like the true professional that he is, and he finished the job. Well done Game Changer!
Thanks so much to the following people who gave up their time set up on Friday night and Saturday. Hollywood and Natalee, Adam O`Keefe and Sally, Nathyn and Donna Costello, David and Kelly Gusman, Eleanor and Igor Vivoda, China, Chippa, Haggs, Rocket, Josh Russo, Gags, and Freeza who cooked up a storm on Friday night (apologies if we have missed anyone).
A special thanks to all those wonderful people who donated auction items for the night. Thanks also to Kelly Gusman who provided all the fresh flowers - compliments of Flowers in the Meadows, Central Square. Guys, if you are after any flowers or giftware for your ladies, make sure you go and see Kelly.
Note: photos will be upload shortly so stay tuned.
