Melbourne trio pushes for AFL selection in TRUenergy VFL A trio of Melbourne hard nuts have returned and will push for AFL finals selection through the TRUenergy VFL this weekend with affiliated team Sandringham.
Tall defenders Ryan Ferguson and Paul Wheatley and rugged midfielder Simon Godfrey will resume with Sandringham in its 2nd Preliminary Final clash with the Northern Bullants on Saturday.
Team-mate Phil Read has again been named for the Zebras, despite two consecutive best on ground efforts in the VFL, while Shannon Motlop, Clint Bizzell and Alistair Nicholson can keep their AFL premiership dreams alive with strong performances in the TRUenergy VFL.
The Carlton-aligned Bullants will boast up and coming AFL stars Luke Blackwell, Ryan Jackson, Trent Sporn and Jordan Russell for the 1.10pm clash at Port Melbourne's TEAC Oval.
Highly-touted Collingwood draftee Scott Pendlebury will be among 34 AFL-listed players at Port Melbourne on Sunday for the TRUenergy VFL's 1st Preliminary Final between Williamstown and Geelong.
Pendlebury's team-mates Guy Richards, Jason Cloke and David Fanning will be keen to raise their stocks before the off-season when they line up against a Geelong outfit boasting Nathan Ablett, Kent Kingsley, Henry Playfair and Charlie Gardiner.
The Williamstown-Geelong clash is at TEAC Oval at 2.10pm Sunday.
