CLUB LEGEND HONOURED
The senior team were extremely focussed throughout the whole week. Not only was there four points up for grabs, there was an opportunity to pay tribute to a much loved stalwart of the club. The senior squad has their eyes firmly fixed on a top two finish at the end of the home and away season. The match against MDU was an opportunity to demonstrate the teams ability to win contested balls, apply whole team defence, move the ball predictably and stick to agreed structures. After playing in wet, heavy and or windy conditions over the last month, the senior side looked excited to be playing in close to perfect conditions. Both sides were able to showcase their foot skills, marking ability and fitness levels on the dry surface. Our IK players were workmanlike in their approach and were able to wear down the opposition with their repeated efforts to win the ball first or win it back from the MDU players. Most pleasing was the attitude of the players to play a team first band of football, there appeared to be very little selfish play or poor habits creeping into the team. Undoubtably, the highlight of the day was Mark Billows putting on a rare 4th quarter forward line performance. He was able to kick 2.1 (including a spectacular contested mark) and was mobbed by adoring team mates after each of his goals. The way the team performed on the day turned out to be a fantastic tribute to a great clubman who deserves every accolade that comes his way. This week against Stony creek is another opportunity for the senior team to entrench the habits of their game plan and earn four more points to keep their goal of a top 2 finish well within their grasp.

TIGHT CONTEST
With a top two place up for grabs it was always going to be a tough and competitive game. In the rooms before the game you could get a sense that the boys were excited by this challenge but even more determined to finish the game with a solid win against good opposition. IK were on top in the first quarter and controlled the football but were unable to apply any scoreboard pressure, kicking 1.7 for the quarter. The second and third quarters saw both Inverloch and MDU have periods of dominance and at three quarter time IK lead by 10 points. IK finished off the game stronger, eventually winning by 23 points. The Foot Doctor continued to dominate on the wing and Bill Blundy was causing all sorts of problems across the half forward line. Jobbo in his second game for the year kicked 5 goals and continued to be a handful deep forward. The win topped off what was a very special day for the club and club legend Mark Billows who played his 300th senior game. From all of the reserves, congratulations Billsy.
Best Players: B. Blundy, C. Spencer, S. Zammit, J. Ivanovic, B Hayes, J. Truman.

GAME OPENED UP
After a disappointing effort the week before, the boys really wanted to respond this week. After a slow start, the boys started to run and carry the ball which opened up the game. Our clearance work around stoppages allowed us first use of the ball. Both sides had no off field rotations, so quick on field rotations was required, to allow our run to continue throughout the match. It was fantastic to have Harry McGuiness back, for the first time, and along with his brother, Cooper, managed to kick 5 goals each. Over all it was a solid performance, especially in the second half with the boys fitness and smarts shining through.
Best Players: O. Toussaint, R. Sparkes, O. Hutton, O. Collette L. Paxton.

GREAT TEAM EFFORT
MDU last weekend and we started the game in our normal way, but a lot better than the previous week. Great to get Simo back from injury and I'm sure he'll be back to his best form before long. Boxy playing his second game back after finger surgery was firing and winning the ball all over the ground. Ty Scarce played his best game for the year never getting beaten all day. Zac ,Eden, Batesy and the two Jakes were in everything and the u14s players who play on Sat and Sun all year in Kye, Harry, Trav, Caleb and Matt were again giving 100%. Where on the right track boys its starting to really take shape, lets keep it up.
Best Players: T. Scarce, A. Box, Z. Reid, J. Bates, T. Murry, R. Colman.
